I am
J.L. Ohly, as of now I am attempting to get a BFA in Interdisciplinary fine art at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. I like painting and building dioramas. My work often revolves around anxiety, both as a current social problem, and as a disorder I struggle with on a daily basis.
Unrelated to the me that is the artist:
I like big cities. Big buildings and accessible transportation make me feel comfortable, like I can breathe again. I like dancey music, folky music, musicy music.
I spend a lot of time listening to podcasts. My favorite podcasts include The Nerdist, Comedy Bang Bang, WTF with Marc Maron, Doug Loves Movies, Superego, Radiolab, This American Life, and Freakonomics. Talk themed audio is how I fill my brain when I’m making artwork. I spend a lot of time in self imposed isolation. I’m not sure why.
I like creative types. I like activists. I want to get along with everyone. I have a political interest in equality. I try to stay politically aware.
That’s it, I suppose. My next post will likely be works in progress.
